How to keep a male gerbil- on his own- amused?

I've had the same toys in there for two weeks- a straw house, a store bought tube, a toilet roll (changed each week) and a tree trunk with holes in it.

You could make a box playground for him. For my gerbil, I have a carbord box (about half the size of a refrigerator box) filled with other smaller boxes. This creates an area for her to play outside her cage without being in danger if getting lost. I also have a bowl filled with sand in the box for her to roll and dig in. :)How to keep a male gerbil- on his own- amused?
I had gerbils for a while and they were great, mine loved to run in a wheel, a wire one is good for gerbils because they like to chew and they wont ruin it like a plastic one.
Do you have a wheel? Those work really well, because gerbils have alot of energy and need to run and play. Another thing is one of those roll about balls. Those work like wheels, but you can take the gerbil out of its cage, you know, show it the rest of the house.
