Apparently i'm taking the tube from Waterloo using the Bakerloo Line to Oxford Circus, then changing and taking the Victoria Line to Kings Cross. All well and good, except I have no idea how to go about this
How is the change of tube train? How will I know exactly where to go during the change?Doe one ticket cover everything for the day?Im buying my ticket on National Rail as i'm travelling across the country, do I need to get a seperate one for the tube when I arrive in Waterloo? What about the way back from King X to Waterloo? I pretty much need a total walkthrough as i've tried to follow online help but I struggle with that,so i'd really appreciate it if anyone has the time as i'm dreading it :)

I used to hate using the tube too - I thought it was really scary, but it's easier than you think it is going to be. You will need a one day travel card - this will let you go all around London. When you get to Waterloo, look for the signs that say 'Bakerloo line' - these will have a brown background as this is the colour for the Bakerloo line. Follow these signs - when you get there, there will be two large signs - you need to choose which direction to go in. You want to go towards Oxford Circus, so look for which one has this below Waterloo on it. When you get there, look for the light blue signs that will point you towards the Victoria Line. Follow them and then choose to go left or right, again by finding which one has Kings Cross written below it so you know you are going in the right direction. If the worst comes to the worst, just get off and go back the way you came so you are travelling in the right direction. All of the trains have tube maps on them so you can check where you are and where you are going to do. Just stay calm and look for the signs and you'll be fine. That's along way around. Bakerloo, Oxford Circus?? From Waterloo to Kings Cross International you just get the Victoria Line from Vauxhall. Back to Kings Cross Intl via Vauxhall Victoria Line from Waterloo.41 mins

When you reach Waterloo,make your way to the main ticket hall.There will be signs to direct you.Go to the ticket kiosk for the tube and ask for a one day travel card.This will cover your journey to Kings Cross and back to Waterloo.
Look for a sign for the Bakerlo Line and go in that direction.You will also need to then look for the Bakerloo sign going NORTH,a lst of the stations will be on this sign and you will see that one of them is Oxford Circus.Get off at Oxford Circus and on the platform there will be a sign saying Victoria Line,follow that one going to Kings Cross.which is three stops from Oxford Circus and there will be sgns naming the stops so you will know which one to take.
Everything is well signed so you should be OK.
Good advice above BUT.....
if you are travelling to Waterloo by train and then from Kings Cross by train you can get the tube journey covered by your rail ticket. Just ask when you buy it and you will be able to use it instead of buying a tube travel card -this will make your journey much quicker and easier!
One thing that is good about going Bakerloo to Victoria at Oxford Circus is that it is a cross platform change. Just walk across to the Northbound Victoria Line platform (about 100ft and at the same level) and catch any train (all go to Kings Cross)
If your ticket is marked with a '+' (plus) symbol, tube travel is included and it will work the tube barriers
Other advice is to allow plenty of time, on a good day it will take about 20 mins, but on such an intensivly used system delays do happen... Usually any delays are minor (maybe 10 mins is regarded as severe)
Some good answers earlier. The question of whether your journey will be covered by one ticket depends to some degree on where you are travelling to Waterloo from, and where you are travelling to from Kings Cross - if it's only a short distance at both ends then it may not be possible to include the tube fare on the same ticket. Also some National Rail tickets are ';airline ticket'; sized rather than ';credit card'; size - in that case if you have a through ticket you will also be issued with a credit-card size ticket to work the barriers on the Underground.
If you can get a through ticket including the Underground (indicated with a ';+'; symbol after the station name), then it is almost certainly advantageous to do so - both Waterloo and Kings Cross are in Zone 1 on the Underground, which means that if you have to buy a ticket between them, an adult single will cost 拢4 if you're paying cash, or 拢1.50 if you have an Oyster card.
The Bus 59 is direct, no change!
